Reviews and photos from beautiful timepieces

Welcome to Robbie & Watches. when I started this project my idea was to learn about watches in general but I ended up falling for photography and horology, not a bad combination. Please ask me any questions about any watch (not only the ones featured here) I will try do my best to help. I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do.

Why watches?

What fascinates you? For me, it’s watches and photography (mostly watches), that feeling of  taking an incredible picture of a truly unique object brings me great satisfaction.
I have seen many watch blogs and I am sure that almost all of them have a different view on the watch industry, here is my position:
I love all kinds of watches, people seem fixated with Pateks, AP, Vacherons . One day I hope to have the privilege to review incredible brands like these but it wouldn't make me love watches more than I do now, this blog is not to show off how much I spend on watches or what is a good/bad watch, this site is about what an average Joe thinks about a mid range/high end pieces and hopefully take a beautiful photo of it. I hope you can relate and enjoy this little project.
P.S: all pictures are my own

When we say the name Oyster perpetual we usually refer to it by saying that is the Rolex entry level model, but there so much more to this name that just a 3 hander sports watch. The oyster case is the foundation of Rolex, its DNA and its one of its most distinguished...

Small nuances in the watch world are endless and sometimes we watch lovers lose perspective. We hear: “ oh, is that is a red sub?” Or “ is that a guilt dial?”, it feels that there are subcategories of everything and we overlook sometimes what is most important which is...

Heritage, for some people this is the first thing that comes to mind when they buy a watch, how old is the company? , how many greatest hits does it have? and how much of this heritage are you actually paying. To be fair is the same with almost everything, from cars to...

Rolex is a brand that everyone has an opinion of, many of us love it but others don't. In the watch world people are always trying to find alternatives and non 'hommage' watches that make you smile the same way that you do when you see that little crown at 12 o'clock....

With the new GMT hype we are all going to chrono24 to check which is the GMT to buy, is it the Rolex GMT Master II? and if it is, should you get the Batman or wait for the new Pepsi in the steel version? what about an Omega Seamaster GMT? perhaps you end up wondering i...

I wanted to write about the Luminor base logo since I got the watch but I have always thought that Panerai is one of the brands with too much information out there, so how to make this article different? We all know that they were used by Italian frogmen in WWII and t...

There are many factors to take into account when it comes to decide your next watch, things outside the purchase itself. Questions such as do I have something similar? is it paying homage to something else? is it overlapping with something I plan to buy in 2 or 3 year...

Awww the tool watch look. In the 60's everything was about tool watches, every major brand from Rolex to Doxa were deep into the tool watches game. Maybe because with a tool watch people saw you as a person who doesn't stay home to watch your brand new color TV, perhap...

The Zenith SURF, I was drawn to this watch so fast that it was scary. For me it offered a great value, great heritage and awesome looks! The movement is self winding but have to say is probably one of the best movements in my collection, not in terms of complications...

What can I say about IWC, I wanted one since I saw it in Frank Underwood's wrist,  yes it was product placement and yes some of the new IWC are not as cool as the vintage ones but finding the right balance and strike at the right time worked for me. This IWC packages a...
