There are watches that make no apologies. Those who dare to create something different will always bring a hard emotion from us watch nerds, and that emotion can be negative or positive.

When it comes to pilot watches, there is no denying that size is key, not because brands want to make a statement but because legibility equals performance. In other words, to read the time at a glance is a must.

The other side of the pilot watch is based on style, the look that these watches project is something that we all enjoy, they are quite striking and when you get a good combination on both sides, then you have a winner.

Infantry Co has produced some of the coolest looking watches that not only blend well with the aviation theme, but they are also highly functional and today we have their latest one: The Revolution Camo.

The Revolution Camo is one of those watches that we described above, its boldness is quite striking, and we are here to discover is the watch can perform as well as previous version we reviewed from the brand, it certainly makes a statement so let’s begin.

The specifications

Square watches are tricky to measure because their dimensions only tell one part of the story, its all about how it wears. The Revolution Camo is 47mm in diameter, it is big but because of the relative short lug to lug, it wears quite nice on my 6.25-inch wrist.

Being a big watch, you will be worried about the weight, but the Revolution Camo body is made of reinforced polymer with a stainless-steel face plate. Quite an elegant solution to that weight issue that watches of this size always bring.

The dial is where most of the time was spent. The grey colour scheme looks tactical and when matched with white ‘’sandwich’’ markers, letters and skeleton hands, it gives this ‘’ghost’’ look that really works on the wrist.  The Revolution Camo also comes in 2 others colour schemes, blue and green but we still believe that the grey is the one to go for.

If you turn the watch over, you will be greeted with another stainless-steel plate which contains a mineral crystal to appreciate the Seiko NH35, a workhorse that not only keeps the watch ticking well but also maintains the price of the watch low, more on this point later.

On the wrist

It is hard to fault the Revolution Camo, mainly because of its ethos: it is here to make a statement. The case is comfortable and because of the large diameter the 14mm thickness makes it feel more balanced, no need to be ultra-thin at this size.

Part of the comfort is thanks to the amazing rubber strap, we said it before with their other watches, this is an amazing accessory that I would definitely buy separately. The softness and grip that the 24mm strap brings can only be compared in watches costing at least 10 times the price of the Revolution Camo and then you have this matte grey which matches the overall theme of the watch, perfection.  The pin buckle also receives a coating treatment to match the shade of the case; it really has a lot attention to detail.

The Revolution Camo is quite legible as intended, the hands are easy to distinguish and the superluminova is potent, well applied and long lasting, all you can ask from a watch of this calibre. Another good point is that because of the square case, the watch sits quite flat on my wrist, making it more comfortable than a traditional round pilots watch, specially one with a big onion crown. Staying with the crown, the watch also offers 100 meters of water resistance, sure is a pilot’s watch but you can also take it for a dive.

I wore the Revolution Camo mostly at the gym and I have to say that it felt at home. It was light enough to forget is there but big enough to make it present. The colour scheme also makes it very versatile, quite easy to pull with any outfit, it has become a regular in my rotation.

Concluding thoughts

The Revolution Camo is a simple watch that makes everything right, the size feels quite robust, and the looks are quite pleasant to the wearer, is not a watch you get tired of watching, it is a watch that you want to see.

The price is also quite outstanding at 175 GBP, quite a bargain for an automatic, uniquely designed and well-built watch. At this price point we cannot really find a competitor, sure there are some ‘’mods’’ that could replicate the looks of the Infantry, but they do not feel as well made or as good as the original thing.

Whichever model you decide to go for, we can safely say that you will have fun with this new entry level watch from the brand, it is easy to pull and brings lots of smiles while performing, and at the end, that is what is all about.
