Changing the sahpes – WishDoit Celestial

It is always good to change, to appreciate and to look objects from a different perspective. In my case, everything that ticks can be very interesting and in the case of women watches, there has been a steady growth on interest and also development of products.

It is a similar view when it comes to sneakers, women have some of the best combinations and designs available, more daring and sometimes, me as a male consumer would like to see that on our side.

This is the case with the latest WishDoit line: The celestial. Not only is a barrel shaped watch which I enjoy but also has the perfect proportions to fit a smaller wrist. To make it even cooler, the case is made of ceramic giving that utilitarian scratch resistance property and then, well the looks.

This review will not be me begging the brand that they should make a men’s version for the Celestial, but you will see in the end that it would be astonishing if they do. Join me to discover.

The specifications

This is a watch that the brand got right from the beginning. The barrel shape measures a compact 31mm in diameters with an impressive 12mm height, my wife of course snatched the Celestial as soon as it came through the door and fits her 5.25 inch wrist to perfection.

The shape is nor regular because the pronounced curve makes the Celestial feel refined and organic. It has a sapphire mineral coated glass and a full ceramic case. Focusing on the case construction, this is a complex one because the material, at least when it comes to watchmaking is exotic. Then we have mid-case which is rose gold is bead blasted  and shows the warm hue quite nicely. The back is also made of ceramic and it is here where you can admire the curvature of the Celestial, quite impressive for the price point and we will come to that later.

The dial is where most of the attention has been given, the zircon stones make justice to the name, it shines like it should. Do not get me wrong, there is quite a bit of ‘’bling’’ factor here but is restrained, is not by any mean un classy and on the contrary, if you look at the macros, the setting ins done with upmost precision, again very impressive. The hands are rose gold plated to continue the theme of the watch and then we have the seconds subdial to finish the composition.

The crown is well made, it has this half onion shape with 3 different finishing, easy to grip and controls the reliable Miyota 1L45 Japanese quartz movement. This keeps the Celestial compact and always ticking for 3 full years.

On the wrist (or my wife’s)

This is a watch that wears well period, the organic shape of it just hugs anything due to the curvature and lightness of the watch thanks to the ceramic. All of this is aided by the fluorine rubber strap, it is soft not so thin, the whole watch feels more like a wide bracelet and I mean that in the good sense.

There is no denying that this is an elegant watch, but like other offers from WishDoit, this is a watch that can be used for any occasion. The sporty nature of the band makes it suitable for sports, pairs with the anti-scratchable case of course and then the stone setting makes suitable for night events, from gym to the restaurant in a breeze.

Clearly, the accuracy is big with that Miyota movement and this is always a plus according to my wife, setting the watch is not as fun for her, so it has become her grab and go piece. There is no denying that this watch would look great in years to come and that is part of the appeal for her.

Concluding thoughts

After writing this review I am more convinced that the guys at WishDoit should do something for us males with this case, it would look terrific and I am sure that the ceramic element at this price point would be undeniably attractive.

Coming to the price, the white celestial is sold out (no wonder) but still open for back orders. The retail price is 213 GBP which is a clear bargain for something so well made, that said, Wishdoit has open up a promotion for 171 GBP. The Pink and Black Ceramic are available, make sure you do not miss out.

It is impressive to see how much WishDoit is pushing the bar up in terms of materials and also craftmanship, from their hand finished watches to ceramic cases, it seems that the brand can do it all. Now we just have to wait and WISH THEY DO IT for us boys.
