Green and very much Upgraded - WishDoit Nereus Facet

Small improvements always make sense, especially when it comes to watches. The diver category is one of those corners of watchmaking that’s genuinely hard to improve, mainly because the refinement it has received since the 1960s has been extensive.
That said, there’s no reason progress can’t continue, and WishDoit has created what is, to me, their most ambitious diver to date, the Nereus Facet.

Not too long ago they surprised us with the Prism collection, and it was nothing short of outstanding. Today, on the same platform, we have a watch that not only feels completely different, but also miles ahead of its cousin.
The Nereus feels familiar, like it has been here before, yet somehow it hasn’t. It’s not only beautiful to look at, but genuinely functional to use. We’re lucky to have the Reef Green variant, which in my eyes is the most vivid colour the brand has produced to date, and that’s saying something.
Join me as we look at how small details and upgrades make this new Nereus something special.
The Specifications
As mentioned, the Nereus uses the same dive platform as the Prism line, and that’s not a bad thing. It keeps the compact 39mm case size and a slim 12mm profile. It wears exceptionally well, but this is where the similarities end.

The first obvious change is the dial. It features a beautiful gradient, shifting from black at the edges to green toward the center. It’s a pleasure to look at, and it adds contrast to the pyramid pattern, which, in my opinion, makes the watch feel a touch more luxurious than many counterparts at this price point.
Other updates include an attractive arrow-style handset, a glossy green bezel on our model, round hour markers, and a partially open caseback. I’m genuinely taken with this new entry from WishDoit.
Then there’s the addition of a date display, magnified by a cyclops lens at 3 o’clock. This helps make the Nereus feel like a true daily wearer, more usable day-to-day, while still staying faithful to its tool-watch roots.
Lume is potent and long-lasting, as expected from the lineup, and with a bezel that also luminesces, legibility is assured. Water resistance remains at 150m with a screw-down crown, which puts many watches in this price range to shame.

The date complication is made possible by one of the biggest changes you can’t see at first glance, the movement. The Nereus is powered by the PT5000 automatic mechanical movement, a very welcome upgrade.
The PT5000 is a Chinese-made automatic movement produced by the Hong Kong Precision Technology (PT) group. It’s based on the well-known ETA 2824-2 architecture, offering similar specs and serviceability: 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), hacking and hand-winding, plus a quickset date on date-equipped versions. It’s a popular, value-focused choice among microbrands, offering a reliable and widely understood platform.
On the Wrist
Nothing dramatic changes in terms of wearability, and that’s a great thing. The thin profile and short lug-to-lug (under 47mm) hit a sweet spot and work perfectly on my 6.25-inch wrist.
The Jubilee-style bracelet is also an excellent match. It contours easily and tends to fit most wrists well. The all-metal look paired with that emerald green dial is a showstopper, and the clasp is short and slim, so everything sits comfortably in place.
There’s also a new option, WishDoit has introduced a set of rubber straps, and they’re excellent. The new fluoro rubber straps use a pattern that mimics canvas while avoiding its drawbacks, they’re more durable and come in a variety of colours. We paired the green dial with the pure white 20mm version. The quick-release system feels secure, and the brushed buckle adds a nice touch of sophistication.

Legibility remains outstanding. The anti-reflective coating does a great job, often making it feel like the crystal isn’t even there, and the gradient dial contrasts nicely with the white round markers.
I wore the Nereus at the gym and at the office, and it didn’t disappoint. The compact size and sporty character make it a subtle companion rather than a loud statement piece, even in this bright green configuration.
Concluding Thoughts
I’m very happy with this new entry from WishDoit. It feels not only fresh, but also more refined and more grown-up. The addition of the date and the upgraded movement are both welcome, and while there’s a small price increase, it still feels extremely reasonable at £247. It ticks the boxes many watch enthusiasts care about.
The watch is available in four distinct configurations, Abyss Blue, Reef Green, Crimson Red, and Midnight Black, each offering its own character, from bold and vibrant to sleek and understated, so you can choose the look that best matches your style.
