Shaped and ready to evolve – The Trémont L003

Evolution is a big part of any brand. Watch brands should evolve because the world changes, and if a watch brand stays exactly the same forever, people eventually move on. It’s not that older watch designs aren’t good (they usually are), but buyers want watches that suit modern life whilst still keeping that classic feel.

Rather than making big changes that might ruin what people liked in the first place, there’s a simpler alternative: smaller updates to the look. Keep the same base and identity, but tweak features such as the dial, dial colours, proportions, finishing, or strap options so the watch feels fresh without turning into something completely different.
With any object, if the design is genuinely good, it doesn’t really age. That’s when a watch becomes interchangeable—something you can wear with almost anything—and that’s how you know it’s more than just a trend.
This isn’t my first interaction with Trémont. The UK-based brand previously released their “pebble”-style watch, which we reviewed not too long ago, and now the next step in that evolution has arrived: the L003.
Some of the changes are clearly aesthetic, but there are also small refinements that make this lovely piece not only more wearable, but more enjoyable too. Join me as we take a closer look at a properly classy watch.
Technical specifications
A dress watch should be small because it’s meant to be subtle and elegant, not the main thing people notice. Traditionally, dress watches were designed to sit neatly on the wrist and look refined, which usually means a slimmer case and a smaller diameter. The L003 measures 33mm in diameter and, in this new variant, the yellow-gold PVD case looks brilliant against the black lacquered dial.

The new dial approach is minimalist: no markers, just the brand name and logo in a gilt tone. It looks great and keeps everything clean. The case shape feels soft and organic, but the dial area is structured, which stops it looking messy and keeps it elegant. With no sharp edges and compact proportions, the design sits quietly on the wrist and feels refined rather than flashy.
The lancet hands are well defined and, again, the monochrome look works beautifully for this particular version. It’s simply elegant.
I’m not sure how these ideas came together at Trémont HQ, but the result really works. It feels more mature and unique. There’s a clear nod to elegant design from the 1920s, yet somehow it still feels current.
The mineral crystal is domed and adds to the smooth, continuous feel of the case. From the outside it looks simple, but as always, getting simplicity right takes time.
The L003 uses the Japanese Miyota 9T22 movement, a reliable quartz calibre known for accuracy and low maintenance—so you don’t need to worry about winding it or constantly setting the time. It also has 30 metres of water resistance, meaning it will cope with everyday splashes and rain, but it isn’t made for swimming or showering.

On the wrist
The L003 looks excellent on my 6.25-inch wrist. At 33mm, it wears compact and properly in proportion—perfect if you prefer a classic, dressy size rather than something big and sporty. The 6.8mm thickness makes it feel very slim and light, and it sits flat without wobbling or catching on cuffs. Overall, it comes across as neat and understated: more elegant and close-to-the-wrist than a statement piece.
This watch is best worn when you want to look put-together without trying to draw attention. It works really well for the office, meetings, and more formal occasions like weddings, dinners, and date nights, because it’s small and slim enough to slip under a shirt cuff or suit sleeve easily.
It also suits smart-casual wear: grabbing a coffee, an evening out, travelling, or even wearing it at home if you like having a comfortable, good-looking watch on your wrist. With 30m water resistance, it’s fine for daily life like rain and washing your hands, but I wouldn’t wear it to the gym, for swimming, in the shower, or at the beach.
The quick-release grained leather strap feels classy, and it comes with a redesigned yellow-gold buckle to match the case. I’m also tempted to add a CTS black rubber strap with a matching buckle to make it feel more contemporary and a bit more everyday—something I think the L003 can definitely pull off.

Concluding thoughts
Overall, this is the sort of watch that’s easy to live with: slim, comfortable, and understated, so you can wear it anywhere from the office to dinner to relaxing at home. If you like smaller, classic proportions and want something clean and refined without trying too hard, it makes a lot of sense.
In terms of price and availability, it’s £164, which puts it firmly in that affordable, good-value bracket—especially with a dependable Miyota quartz movement and a genuinely wearable case size. At this price, it feels like a strong option if you want the look and convenience of a dress-leaning watch without spending big money, and it should also be far easier to pick up than limited or hard-to-find pieces.
I’m genuinely excited to see what’s next, because this launch feels like a real step forward and shows the brand is moving in the right direction. If they build on this and keep the same level of design and attention to detail, I can honestly see Trémont reaching new heights.
