The Allure of Stone Dials - VALUSIS Volt

There is something inherently captivating about a stone dial watch. Unlike traditional metal or lacquer faces, stone dials bring a slice of the natural world directly onto your wrist. This makes every single timepiece completely unique. The art of slicing organic minerals into wafer-thin discs without fracturing them is an incredibly delicate craft.

Historically, this luxurious technique was pioneered by prestigious maisons like Piaget during the creative explosion of the 1960s and 1970s. Piaget broke the mould of conservative watchmaking by embracing bold, vibrant stones like lapis lazuli, turquoise, and malachite. They turned watches into high-fashion statements. Today, this vintage-inspired aesthetic is enjoying a massive renaissance. Enthusiasts are looking beyond standard black and silver dials in search of texture, depth, and character. A stone dial offers exactly that, blending organic artistry with mechanical precision.
My journey into this review begins with a young brand that mirrors the rapid rise of its home city. Founded in 2019, VALUSIS was born in Dubai, a place where a futuristic skyline rose from the desert sand in just a few decades. This spirit of ambition and rapid innovation is baked directly into the brand.

In a short space of time, the company has grown from a bold concept into an award-winning microbrand recognized by watch collectors globally. They have already secured three prestigious awards and featured in respected industry magazines. They achieve this by blending modern design with traditional watchmaking values. This brings us to the star of the show, the VALUSIS Volt. This model represents the brand's contemporary take on the highly popular integrated sports watch genre. It offers a structured, architectural case design that feels fresh yet familiar.
While the watch is available in various configurations, the version I am reviewing features an exotic green malachite dial. I will dive deeper into this stunning material during the specifications, but first, let us take a proper look at how this watch is built, how it handles the light, and what makes its construction so impressive for the price point.
The Specifiations

The case of the Volt is crafted from premium 316L stainless steel, measuring 40mm in diameter with a beautifully slim thickness of just 11mm. What immediately stands out is the finishing. The case displays a brilliant contrast between brushed and polished surfaces. The bezel features a satin-brushed top face that contrasts beautifully against the high-polish chamfered edges, catching the light wonderfully when you turn your wrist.
This meticulous finishing extends to the integrated steel bracelet. Integrated designs are famously difficult to get right, but VALUSIS has done a stellar job here. The bracelet design feels reminiscent of iconic luxury sports watches, specifically echoing the bold, geometric charm of the Patek Philippe Nautilus and the sporty elegance of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. The outer links have a clean, brushed finish, while the center links are polished to a mirror-like shine, adding a luxurious pop of contrast.
Sitting beneath a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating is the stunning malachite dial. Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral famous for its rich, silky green bands. Because it is a natural stone, no two dials are identical. The banding on this dial flows vertically, creating a dynamic sense of depth that shifts from deep forest green to bright emerald depending on the angle of the light. It is incredibly rare to find genuine stone dials in this price bracket, making this watch feel far more exclusive than its price suggests.

To keep the focus on the natural stone, the hand-applied indices and baton hands are kept clean, polished, and minimalist. At the six o'clock position, a framed date window integrates seamlessly into the design. Under the hood, visible through an exhibition caseback, runs a reliable automatic movement that keeps things sweeping smoothly. Finally, with a water resistance rating of 10 ATM, equivalent to 100 metres, this is not just a delicate dress watch. It is a robust everyday companion.
On the Wrist
Wearing the Volt on my 6.25-inch wrist has been an absolute pleasure. While a 40mm square or octagonal case can sometimes wear quite large, the lug-to-lug proportions of this watch make it incredibly wearable. The watch is slightly wider across the wrist but wears short, meaning the integrated bracelet drops down naturally without spilling over the edges of a smaller wrist. The bracelet itself is exceptionally well-manufactured, integrating seamlessly into the case to create a cohesive, flowing silhouette. It hugs the wrist comfortably, and the butterfly clasp keeps the profile sleek and secure.
On the full steel bracelet, the watch has a reassuring weight of 140 grams, giving it a solid, premium feel. However, if you want to lighten the load, VALUSIS offers an interchangeable leather strap option. Swapping to the leather drops the weight to a featherlight 85 grams. The watch comes with an aligator green leather strap that looks absolutely spectacular as an alternative, dressing the watch up for formal occasions.

Because of its unique dial, this watch thrives in creative, upscale environments. It is the perfect piece to wear to an art gallery opening, a stylish rooftop bar, or a smart-casual dinner where you want your watch to start a conversation.
Concluding thoughts
At 450 USD, approximately £350, the VALUSIS Volt is an incredibly compelling option. In a market saturated with homage watches and safe, predictable designs, this watch stands out as a breath of fresh air.
This timepiece is perfect for the collector who appreciates microbrand ingenuity, loves vintage-inspired stone dials, and wants the sporty look of an integrated luxury watch without the astronomical price tag.
It is truly incredible that a young company has managed to deliver a genuine malachite dial, excellent case finishing, and solid specifications to such a high standard. VALUSIS has created something genuinely special here, proving that high-end style can be accessible.
