Transparent and beautiful – Bell & Ross BR05-Skeleton Green

In the last few months, I had the chance to get hands on with some of the most incredible pieces from Bell & Ross, the brand has so much going for it not only in the quality of the watches but also the overall design

language. There are many brands out there but it’s hard to imagine nowadays an independent brand that offers medium level pieces all the way to haute horology with quality present in the whole catalogue, to me Bell & Ross gives you that, and what better piece than the new Limited Edition Skeleton BR05 in green?

We have talked about the BR05 case in the GMT version and this new version has so much going for it, the finishing is incredible and paired with a green rubber strap makes the whole package wearable in almost every situation, you get a high tech look with the open work dial and green sapphire crystal plus an integrated look which makes it very 70s retro with a modern stance, it just works. Here are my impressions on this square beauty.

The specifications:

The BR 05 LE green comes in 40mm, being a square case, it wears larger, but the lack of lugs and integrated strap really restrain the size making it elegant but sporty at the same time. The main

attraction is the dial, yes, the faceted sides and bevelled case is made to perfection but that green really steals the show, not only because is like nothing offered at the moment, but because you can also see the inner mechanics of the watch, and to us watch nerds, this is perfection. The appliques indices are incredible legible against that olive green dial and like any Bell and Ross, the BR05 Skeleton has lume is a torch. The watch is powered by an automatic calibre BR-CAL.322 which can be seen on the sapphire case back, nicely decorated and a work horse, ready for anything you can throw at it.

On the wrist:

This is when the watch becomes alive too, the BR05 Skeleton is thin, very thin at 10.3mm, fits flat on your wrist and because of the integrated bracelet architecture, the watch is as comfortable as anything I’ve tried on from the brand, I was tempted to say that the bracelet is the way to go but

the rubber strap and deployment buckle that the watch comes with is for sure my choice, the rubber is soft and well ventilated, you can really use it every day. The clasp itself is so well machines and it hides once is lock making the watch wear even more seamless. I like integrated bracelets, but I feel that this watch

looks amazing with that olive pattern, you can always opt for the bracelet option and source the rubber strap later, they are very high quality.

Conclusion

The BR05 Skeleton Green is one of a kind, it really brings a retro look with modern touches, works well at night and day and I had a very hard time to send it back, yes I know that I love most of the watches I borrow to review but I would never ask for something that is not of my interest, I am not sure if it was the olive green look or the open work dial but I think Bell & Ross have a hit on their hands, that said, this is a limited Edition of 500 pieces worldwide, if they are not already sold, well maybe is time to get that integrated look without being boring.
