Let’s get summer ready – WishDoit Triton Prism

Summer is around the corner and, with that in mind, one of the best categories to enjoy is dive watches. Not only are they durable enough for the beach, the mountains, or any other activity you can throw at them, but they’re also stylish.

There’s always one issue, though, because of the constraints of diving certification standards, dive watches usually look the same, there isn’t much room for flair. Keeping this thought, Wishdoit just launched their new diver collection, the Triton Prism. Named after the god of the sea, the watch combines high-quality finishing with exotic materials, and yes, it still comes at a price that’s almost impossible to match.

This is potentially the brand’s most ambitious launch, and we’re here with two models that can be added to almost any collection. Let’s begin.

The specifications

The canvas for the Triton is a 39 mm steel case. This is a perfect size for everyday wear, and they also managed to keep it to a slim 12 mm profile. The mid-case creates the illusion of an even thinner watch, and I really enjoy the beveled details which make the transitions in the finishing feel elegant.

The bezel includes a ceramic insert which is also lumed, I wish more brands would do this. The extra lip on the coin-edge bezel ring allows you to turn it with ease, it has good grip and a precise feel. So far, the specifications are great and the attention to detail is overwhelming.

The Prism dial is where the party is. We have the purple and the blue versions with us, and I’m not sure which one shines best. The natural mother of pearl brings a lot of dynamism to an already good-looking dial. The rhombus pattern is unique to each dial, makes the watch feel more upscale and special. You can find shades of dark blue or purple mixed with lighter tones, it’s quite an exquisite composition.

Normally, I’m not a fan of date windows, but the well-placed framed date at 6 o’clock feels symmetrical and visually matches the applied markers on the dial. Wishdoit is a brand that is very proud of its lume work, and the Prism is no exception. The BGW9 Swiss Super-LumiNova is not only potent but also well applied, it lasts a long time and charges with the smallest ray of light, a true diver.

The crown guards are quite angular and protect one of the best crown designs I’ve experienced. There’s a gap at the bottom to provide more grip when unscrewing it, it’s a small detail, but one that’s highly appreciated.

Under the solid caseback, we have a Miyota automatic movement with 42 hours of power reserve. Mechanical at heart, the Prism has a water resistance of 150 meters, making it a very nice all-rounder.

On the wrist

With the dimensions described, the Triton Prism wears very well on my 6.25-inch wrist. The thin profile makes everything better, and the lug-to-lug under 48 mm adds even more wearability to an already outstanding package.

The Prism also comes with a solid bracelet. The Jubilee-style steel band drapes around your wrist even though the links are solid. The clasp is compact and offers plenty of micro-adjustments, making it easy to size for almost any wrist.

I wore the Prism everywhere, from the gym to the office, and it doesn’t disappoint. The bracelet is extremely comfortable, and I had a hard time trying the watch in a different configuration. That said, it’s now living on a blue nylon strap and it’s staying that way. I do miss the steel, but because the watch is so thin, it’s the perfect candidate for a double-pass strap.

One of the main features you need to get used to is that lovely mother-of-pearl dial. Not so long ago, mother of pearl was considered more of a feminine look, but Wishdoit managed to express it in a more gender-neutral way. It’s a tool watch with a touch of elegance, and I’m all in for that.

Legibility is also outstanding. The silver chapter ring separates the dial from the bezel and adds clarity to a watch that has quite a bit going on. The markers stand out in a good way, and then we have the lume, which has been improved for this version.

Concluding thoughts

Affordability can be ambiguous. A good product at a good price can be “affordable,” but it still needs to provide real value, and that’s where the Prism excels. The Triton Prism is priced at £158 and it’s available right now, I’m not sure you could find a watch with these specifications at this price.

The Triton Prism is one of the best alternatives to a traditional diver, but it also has all the bells and whistles that we watch nerds love. It also comes in black and red versions, and both look incredible.

Make sure you check them out, there will always be a version that suits you best, which one would you pick?
